IIT JAM Chemistry study plan

  1. Weeks 1–3: physical chemistry, with numericals every day.
  2. Weeks 4–7: organic chemistry: draw each mechanism by hand and list reagents with their products.
  3. Weeks 8–9: inorganic chemistry: bonding, coordination compounds and periodic trends with their exceptions.
  4. From week 10: timed full mocks and previous-year JAM questions; revise a one-page reagent and exception sheet each week.

How to cover the IIT JAM Chemistry syllabus

The IIT JAM Chemistry syllabus has 3 main areas: Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry. Finish the area that carries the most marks first, then revise the others in rotation, and take a timed mock test every week to see which topics still cost you marks.
